DRAMAQUEENZ + KINGS BOOK NOW
Why is Drama for Parents and Toddlers a good idea?
Your Toddler is already talking, babbling, enjoying the sounds they make and enjoying listening to sounds, words and music. They crave conversations with you and seek attention, developing their talking skills.
Imaginative conversations give them great practice to:
· take turns
· listen to you
· watch your reaction
· enjoy eye contact
· share in jokes
· say something important
· say something for effect
· delight in new and silly words
· use new words effectively
· make up words
· enjoy rhymes, rhythm and songs
· develop more complex language
This increases confidence as speakers and listeners – needed for a good start in school!
In DRAMAQUEENZ classes, all this can be achieved through engaging in Drama activities and games.
A typical session may include:
· Word games
· Focused movement/ observation games to develop concentration
· Active physical games for the sheer fun of it
· Imaginative conversations with funny voices
· Role play/ dressing up
· Solving a practical problem
· Songs – rhymes/ action/ clapping
· Free movement interpreting music
· Improvised stories
These sessions are designed to make it easier for you to have creative fun with your toddler without feeling self-conscious. Everyone takes part at their level and nobody is expected to perform solo! You are merely asked to join in with your child.
Most of the time you will work with just your child and take part in an activity supporting your child alongside other parents with their children. Depending on how they feel, there may be opportunities to observe the way your child interacts with other children using costume and puppets – a great opportunity to talk about what they did and said.
